AVID’s mission is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society. AVID fosters a safe and open culture, high expectations for teachers and students, and collaboration in all classrooms. AVID believes teachers are inherently passionate about education. AVID helps teachers shift from delivering content to facilitating learning, resulting in an inquiry-based, student-centric classroom. Relational capacity, high expectations, collaboration, inquiry, and organization are at the core of the AVID approach to closing the opportunity gap. AVID believes that regardless of their life circumstances, AVID students overcome obstacles and achieve success. They graduate and attend college at higher rates, but more importantly, they can think critically, collaborate, and set high expectations to confidently conquer the challenges that await them.
